Dr Rainer Polster completed his PhD in Economics at the University of Passau in 1999. His academic studies took him to Harvard University, Université de Montréal, and HEC Montréal in Canada.
From 1996 to 2018, he held various senior positions at Deutsche Bank AG in Frankfurt, London and Vienna. He headed the "Corporate and Investment Banking Austria" and "Financial Institutions Group DACH" divisions, before becoming spokesperson for the board of the Deutsche Bank in Austria.
In October 2018, Dr Rainer Polster joined the Oldenburgische Landesbank AG as Chief Sales Officer and General Representative. From April 2020 onwards, he was responsible for the business with medium-sized corporate clients in southern Germany, special financing and treasury in the board. In November 2020, he took on the role of Chief Financial Officer and was also responsible for the sustainability department in this function.
In 2024, he took over the chairmanship of the Supervisory Board of Degussa Bank AG in Frankfurt, while it merged with Oldenburgische Landesbank AG (OLB).
On 1st October 2026, Dr Rainer Polster was appointed to the Management Board of Oberbank AG.
